Staffing and recruiting was never part of the plan after Scott graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Film and Television Studies in 1997. and moved to Hollywood with stars in his eyes.
After spending the better part of 6 years chasing down a career in the entertainment industry, Scott could no longer ignore the instinct to pursue a career in business and landed his first sales job with a start-up internet company.
Shortly thereafter, he landed a position as an Account Executive with Nextel Communications after graduating a trying three-month sales bootcamp. He spent the next 3.5 years with Nextel, marketing their wireless services and solutions to businesses around the Los Angeles and Seattle markets.
Having started and run his own $18M staffing firm in the Seattle area, Scott’s father recruited him to join the family business, where he spent the next 6 years building and managing a direct-hire placement division with a focus on Finance and Accounting, and was an integral part of the eventual sale of the firm to a major national staffing organization. A short while later, Scott launched his own IT Staffing and Recruiting firm, Makena Partners, which he continues to run to this day.
